how it started
Hi, I’m Silvija Meilūnaitė, the creator of Barefoot Basil. At 40, I’ve experienced how life’s challenges—like a back injury and burnout—can affect both body and mind. Searching for ways to heal and feel better, I became fascinated with health and plant-based nutrition, which has become a massive part of my life.
While I choose to live plant-based because of my ethical values, I believe everyone can benefit from eating more plant-based foods. As I navigate perimenopause, I’ve seen how even small, consistent changes in nutrition, movement, and daily habits can have a powerful impact on health and happiness.
Barefoot Basil was inspired by my dream to help 3 million people live healthier lives—a number that represents the population of my home country, Lithuania. I aim to make nutrition and healthy living easy, accessible, and practical.
I’m against fad diets and quick fixes. Instead, I focus on sharing simple, sustainable strategies that help people feel their best.
Through science-based insights and simple tips, I want to show that wellness doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s about making small, meaningful changes that fit into your life.
