about Barefoot basil
Hi, I’m Silvija Meilūnaitė – the creator of Barefoot Basil.
In my late 30s, I learned how deeply life’s transitions can shape our well-being. A back injury, burnout, and the start of perimenopause forced me to slow down, re-think, and rebuild myself slowly through small, sustainable changes.
What began as a personal search for healing through nutrition has grown into a broader approach to wellness.
Today, Barefoot Basil exists to support women over 40 in feeling stronger, calmer, and more connected to their bodies, without the trends, misinformation, or overwhelm.
My approach blends evidence-based nutrition, functional movement, mental well-being, and clean living with curated product recommendations that genuinely support midlife health.
From barefoot shoes and fitness gear to non-toxic kitchen tools, skincare, and supplements, everything I share is researched, tested, and chosen with practicality and safety in mind.
Nutrition remains central to my philosophy. While I follow a predominantly plant-based lifestyle for ethical reasons, I focus on helping women add more nourishment, not restrictions, to support hormones, energy, digestion, and recovery.
Through my own experience navigating perimenopause, I’ve seen how thoughtful adjustments in food, routine, mindset, and environment can transform how we feel.
I love and never stop learning and hold multiple nutrition and women’s health certifications, to better support women through every stage of midlife.
I believe that wellness should feel simple and empowering, not complicated.
