Hi, I’m Silvija Meilūnaitė – certified nutrition coach, menopause coaching specialist, and the person behind Barefoot Basil.

In my late 30s, three things hit at once: a back injury, burnout, and the beginning of perimenopause. I had to figure it all out slowly, through small changes that actually helped me- I have changed how I ate, how I moved, what I put in and on my body, how I rested, and how I thought about this stage of life.

That process changed everything. And it’s the reason this site exists.

Barefoot Basil is for women navigating their 40s and beyond who want real, researched information – not trends, not fear, not the kind of advice that sounds good but falls apart in real life. Everything here is grounded in evidence and filtered through my own perimenopause, which is still ongoing and very much part of how I write.

What I cover

My approach covers the full picture of midlife wellness:

  • Hormones and perimenopause – including HRT, GLP-1s, and the biology behind the symptoms
  • Nutrition tailored to midlife hormones – clean supplements, no filler-loaded products, food that actually supports this life stage
  • Functional movement for strength, bone health, and longevity
  • Low-tox living – personal care, sunscreen, kitchenware, clothing, the everyday products that support, not disturb our hormonal balance. 
  • Mental and emotional well-being – the side of this transition that doesn’t get talked about enough, and made such a big difference in my life. 

Every product I recommend is researched and screened for clean ingredients. No fillers, gums, or thickeners I wouldn’t put in my own body. And every recommendation is grounded in science, not marketing.

My credentials

I hold a PN1-NC certification in nutrition coaching from Precision Nutrition and a CSMC certification in menopause coaching from Girls Gone Strong, including the advanced Menopause Coaching Specialist Plus training that goes deeper into hormone therapy, GLP-1s, and recovery strategies for women over 40.

I never stop learning as the wellness field is moving fast, and the women reading this deserve up-to-date, honest information.
