Let’s learn about nutrition only from science, not from opinions or by following every new diet. I started barefootbasil.com because I love learning about nutrition and always try to find evidence for every claim or theory. I understand that only some are nutrition geeks and need more time or find the research documents boring. They prefer a bit more visual and entertaining way of learning.Â
Amazingly, we can learn from so many experts in their field, learn about the newest science, debunk myths, learn how to eat the best food for us and interpret scientific documents and research.Â
Some of them are on YouTube, if you are like me and love watching Nutrition podcasts whilst cooking, and some of them are on Spotify for the times when you want to rest your eyesÂ
Here is my Top Nutrition Podcats list for 2024 in no particular order.
1. Zoe
For those who want to learn about microbiome
Zoe is the only brand on the Top Nutrition Podcasts List. If you are interested in nutrition, you have definitely heard of the Zoe App created by Tim Spensor. Although I have my view on it, you can read it here, and do not necessarily agree that we all need it, they do a pretty good job of educating people about gut health and have some great quests on the Zoe podcast. If you don’t mind the slightly irritating interviewing style and “organic” Zoe App mentions, you should tune in and learn about the newest nutrition science from various nutrition experts in the nutrition field.Â
2. The Proof with Simon Hill
For those who want to eat more plant-basedÂ
Simon Hill is my new source of all things nutrition. He is a qualified physiotherapist and nutritionist who explores the benefits of health and longevity. He and his guests focus not only on nutrition but also on physical exercise, mindfulness, recovery, sleep, and alignment. Previous guests have included Dr Walter Willett, Dr Stuart Phillips, Dr Michelle Wong, and Dr Christopher Gardner, to name a few.
3. Rich Roll
For mind, body and spirit knowledgeÂ
How can you not trust a man with a grey beard talking about nutrition? On a serious note, I love Rich Roll’s in-depth podcasts, which normally last 2 to 3 hours and cover so much. His podcasts are for you if you want a mixture of experts and celebrities to learn from.Â
Rich Roll focuses on mind/body/spirit disciplines: ultra-endurance, wellness, nutrition, mindfulness, psychology, relationships, parenting, leadership, and spirituality. This podcast is for you if you want wellness for the whole body and mind rather than only nutrition.
4. FoundMyFitness
For Fitness fanaticsÂ
In her podcasts, Dr. Rhonda Patrick translates scientific topics into actionable insights. She invites experts to discuss longevity and optimal health and shares the latest nutrition, ageing, and disease prevention research.Â
If you are obsessed with protein intake, check out this video with Dr Luc van Loon, known for exercise science, particularly protein metabolism, resistance training, and the nuanced role of collagen supplements in sports nutrition.
5. The Doctor’s Kitchen

Dr Rupy Aujla is a medical doctor who is passionate about cooking healthy recipes with the best ingredients.Â

6. Dr. Fuhrman

Joel Fuhrman, M.D. is a board-certified family physician, seven-time New York Times best-selling author, and internationally recognized nutrition and natural healing expert.
He created the term “Nutritarian” to describe a nutrient-dense eating style designed for longevity and disease prevention. I love his daughter Jenna’s podcasts, which feature informative and warm conversations. If you are on a plant-based diet and want to do it right, this podcast is for you.Â
7. Sigma Nutrition RadioÂ
For Nutrition science geeks and professionalsÂ
Sigma Nutrition Radio, hosted by Danny Lennon, is an educational podcast trusted by dietitians, nutritionists, and health and fitness professionals. Danny Lennon and his podcast host, including nutrition science professors, share the newest evidence-based science. You’ll either hear an in-depth interview with a world-leading nutrition researcher or an episode from the Sigma team each week. All of Sigma’s content creators have postgraduate qualifications and academic backgrounds in nutrition science.
It is a very informative, dense podcast that feels like tuning into a radio channel dedicated to nutrition.
8. Nutrition Made Simple!
With Dr. Carvalho, MD PhD
I love this channel because it explains that nutrition is not black and white, and we constantly learn. I also love the topics that only a few channels answer. If you want to exercise your critical thinking, watch Dr. Carvalho’s videos and listen to the podcast. I also like this channel because Nutrition Made Simple has no sponsors, affiliate deals, or ties to pharmaceuticals or any other industry, making it more trustworthy.
9. The DoctorsPharmacy with DRÂ Mark Hyman MD
Mark Hyman is a more mainstream podcast host who focuses on longevity. The Doctor’s Pharmacy is a place for deep conversations about the critical issues of our time in the fields of health, wellness, food, and politics.
10. Nutrition facts with Dr. Greger, M.D.FACLM
Go to for very detailed plant-based diet nutrition
I love Dr. Greger and his mission with NutritionFacts.org. I recommend reading or listening to his books “How Not to Die” and “How Not to Diet” if you want to transition to a plant-based diet or eat more plants. This podcast is for you if you don’t want to read informational and science-heavy books and want a quick summary of key nutrition facts, just be prepared for quite a bit of sponsored material.Â
Check out the NUTRITION section if you want to learn simple ways to eat a nutritious diet.

To summarizeÂ
I am not going to lie, the research for this article took way longer than expected, as I couldn’t stop listening to the podcast. At the same time, I updated my knowledge as I listened to the newest science.Â
These top nutrition podcasts are all based on science and facts rather than fad diets.
However, it is important to remember that podcasts and research documents can be interpreted differently, so always take the opinions with a pinch of salt, learn to question information, and adapt them to your lifestyle. You will not like or agree with every guest on the podcast, which is ok. Even if I follow a mostly plant-based diet, I still love learning from people with different views and knowledge, and so should you.
